Welcome to my page! I am an Associate Professor of Economics and Director of the Center for the Study of Economics and Liberty at Mercer University.

I earned a Ph.D. in Economics at Arizona State University, an M.S. in Economics at Arizona State University, an M.A. in Economics and Public Policy at Georgetown University and a B.S. in Economics at the Bolivian Catholic University.

Prior to joining Mercer University, I held academic appointments at Arizona State University, American University of Sharjah and Georgia State University. I have also held consulting appointments at Deloitte & Touche, the Dubai Economic Council and the Latin American Institute of Development and Social Studies in Chile.

My work focuses on teaching, doing research, consulting and writing op-eds in the areas of macroeconomics, institutional economics, political economy and the foundations of capitalism and economic freedom. I am also a frequent speaker at academic seminars, conferences and industry events in the US and abroad. I maintain a strong presence in the media offering radio and TV interviews on different economic and political topics on a weekly basis.
